Cancer support and survivorship

Cancer support and survivorship care refers to the assistance you receive beyond diagnosis and treatment. It is the support for every aspect of your life: physical, mental, emotional and social.

Cancer support services and resources

We’re with you for the duration of your cancer journey, beginning with your diagnosis.

Through our physician network across Western North Carolina, we care for you throughout your cancer treatment plan, including survivorship. Our services also include support groups and professional guidance to help you monitor your symptoms, as well as your emotional well-being.

Cancer support for you and your family

If you need support beyond cancer treatment, our group of practices offers comprehensive cancer survivorship programs.

Cancer resources

Cancer treatment is just one component of a complete oncology or cancer care program. We draw on the backgrounds of the numerous types of specialists who come together to give you well-rounded, supportive care, such as:

  • Chaplain services
  • Financial assistance
  • Nurse navigator services
  • Rehabilitative services
  • Smoking cessation programs
  • Social services

Nurse navigators

Our cancer teams work closely with registered nurses (RNs) who have specialized training and certifications in oncology, called nurse navigators. These special nurses support you at each stage of care, including diagnosis, treatment, recovery and survivorship. They also advocate your needs and facilitate communication with your care team.

Cancer survivorship programs

Each cancer survivor has unique needs, and our programs vary accordingly. Our family of practices personalizes your post-treatment care with services, such as follow-up screening recommendations, personalized health education, genetic risk evaluations (as appropriate) and nutrition guidance.

Our practices also offer resources for navigating financial and insurance issues, as well as ways to empower you to advocate for your own healthcare needs. We understand the importance of providing the tools to help you move beyond your illness.
