Wound care

Wound care involves medical interventions to heal a wound after injury. Specialized treatment is provided for wounds that are nonhealing or refuse to heal on their own. A vital aspect of treatment includes learning how to properly dress and care for a wound.

Wound management services

Many wounds can be complex to treat. As such, your care plan may include:

  • Wound care — When treating wounds, we use numerous methods, such as debridement, advanced topical products, biological dressings, skin grafts, skin substitutes, growth factors, off-loading, total contact casting, compression wraps, Unna boots, dopplers and ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing. We also offer negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), also known as wound vacuum-assisted closure therapy (wound vacs).
  • Foot and nail care — We offer several foot care services, including toenail cutting, debridement, paring of callouses, and diabetic foot care education.
  • Ostomy care — Our wound doctors troubleshoot, arrange for preoperative education and markings, perform postoperative follow-up's and provide outpatient support, as well as support group resources for you and your family.
  • Surgical intervention — Our physicians consult with surgeons to plan surgical treatments for nonhealing wounds.
  • Transcutaneous oxygen monitoring (TCOM) — We perform oxygen challenge testing to determine oxygen levels, injury healing potential, hyperbaric candidacy and mapping for surgical intervention and amputations.
  • Vascular-related disorder care — Our doctors manage wounds affected by circulation disorders. Your treatment may involve specialized dressings or surgery to promote accelerated healing.
