Services provided by oncology specialists
After collecting your medical history and performing diagnostic tests, we create a treatment plan tailored to your cancer type and overall health needs. Our oncologists may use one or a combination of therapies, including:
- Chemotherapy — A type of infusion service, this drug-based treatment uses powerful medication to kill fast-growing cancer cells. Chemotherapy is a common treatment and may be used in your care.
- Interventional oncology — Interventional oncology may be used if your cancer cannot be surgically removed or effectively treated with chemotherapy. Your treatment options may include radiofrequency ablation (RFA) (killing the tumor with heat) and cryoablation (destroying cancer cells with cold temperatures). Some of our interventional oncology procedures include chemoembolization, complex biopsies, drug-eluting bead embolization, intra-arterial yttrium-90 radioembolization, tumor ablation and tumor embolization.
- Radiation therapy — This is an advanced cancer treatment that uses high-energy X-rays to destroy cancer cells. Radiation therapy may be a part of your care plan, and works well when used with surgery and chemotherapy.
- Surgical oncology — Some cancers require surgical treatment. If you find this is your experience, you'll have access to oncology surgeons who specialize in the removal of many types of cancer, be it a tumor or tissue. Your care team will work with you to determine the appropriate procedure.
